Toronto’s LIZ LOKRE rallies up 10 powerhouse women to speak about their wellness journeys on ‘Grounded’

We’ve all heard that music is medicine. But what happens when musicians and wellness practitioners come together? A movement towards all things grounding.

Acknowledging and embracing what makes us more grounded as human beings is an effort that takes a community. Luckily in Toronto, the movement towards collective wellness is alive and growing, and local singer/songwriter musician LIZ LOKRE is using her platform to promote it.

LOKRE has gathered 10 women to speak on their journeys towards balance on her self-directed visual, entitled ‘Grounded’. The video comes alongside the release of LOKRE’s debut EP, EARTH.

Those featured in the video are exemplary of the strong female energy coming from the city, and include familiar faces, like singer/activist SATE. MANIFESTO spoke with LOKRE about the inspiration behind her new visual: “The source of inspiration for this work is the way women, in particular, embody the elements and find grounding in their own daily lives,” she shares. “Is it safe to say we’re all in search of balance? When it’s there, we thrive in that knowing and when it’s not, we sense something is missing. This series was premiered during my EP release event and is now being shared publicly with the hope that viewers will explore what being grounded looks like to them. The incredible women featured in this video come from different backgrounds, cultures, professions & are in their own unique seasons. They are artists, life coaches, faith practitioners, musicians, and mothers. What unites us is our ability to go inwards when the noise gets too loud. We all know what it means to find our center and get back to the core of who we are.

Back to Earth.”

‘Grounded’ delves into the themes LOKRE explores on her EP, including the imbalance of gender equality, our responsibility to look after the planet, and being connected to humanity on a whole. EARTH, below, is comprised of three songs touching on LOKRE’s journey of finding balance.

EARTH is being promoted through local installations in Toronto called #TheElementRooms which will be open to the public come next release.
